Happy Birthday, dear Jim and to Isobel and to all those who gathered with you on the extended celebration, warmest regards down under folksies! I think of the songs that came to us from Australia way that we sang with gusto--especially The Lord's Prayer sung to Waltzing Mathilda as one of the first. And I'm also reminded of the incredible ENERGY, KINDNESS, and CHEERFULNESS that radiated from the two of you as you embodied the mission in action. Rarely do we have the occasion to meet such as you both on our corporate revolutions around the sun. Keep taking your Peter Pan pills! The world is such a livelier and compassionate place with you, Jim at the milestone of 90 and with your bride, Isobel by your side. Folks, we ALL need to be technically "woke" and understand that spammers are entirely able and willing to fake the return addresses of emails they send. This is a huge industry. This happens A LOT. You simply can't assume that an email is really from who it appears to be from. They are hoping you will respond and relax your guard because you think you know the sender. As manager of the mailing lists, I can't tell you how many times the entire contact lists of our members have been stolen, and spammers have begun to post to the lists with faked return addresses.. Many times I have had to mark a member as requiring my moderation so that the spammer's posts don't get through. Usually the spam dies down after a few weeks and I can clear the moderation flag. Of course I don't know if the email Seth refers to was faked or not, since I haven't seen it. It's usually pretty obvious. I generally consider this kind of "meta talk" about email, security, etc to be off topic, but since this has come up, I thought I should respond. how to see the list archives

Several folks have asked me how to access old list messages. You might want to do this if there was some event or person you want to research. Here is the secret. At the bottom of every message are two links, one gives the address to post to the list, and right under it is a web page of information about the list. If you go to that second link, at the very top of the page is a link to the mailing list archives. Just to make it easy for you, I have put the links below saving you one click. But you can always rediscover the archives by looking at the bottom of any message for that information page link. Is anyone in contact with Bill & Nan Grow? Are they on either of these email lists? The parish where I serve just got an email purporting to be from them wanting to make contact with me. Seems very odd to go to so much trouble to find me rather than check in here. And the message was a bit disturbing as it was disrespectful and frankly, potentially dangerous. Yet the seed was planted and I wanted MORE of this brand new way of walking and talking with purpose and meaning that appealed to the student/teacher nature in me. And so I succumbed to reaching for the high notes in my life song and responded to the Call to join those who had evoked a like-minded spirit in me to traverse the journey--then of becoming a part of EI/ICA and now the collegial band of the ICA where I have had a lesser experience in dispensing its tools and methods yet I keep up with the news and publications of progressives and colleagues (including JWM's contributions to the movement embracing This World/Other World, the NSV/NRM, and community development/social and ecological justice). I wrote a pamphlet five years ago, On Becoming a Practical Theologian (OBAPT) along with an Addendum with 5 Questions which adapted the RS1 construct as a springboard for a weekend of interior examination and sharing the care of the self. Should you desire to enhance the development of an individual's faith stance in a group setting, I offer this booklet digitized in the Global Archives in Chicago for your perusal.
