It is with deep sadness that we report that our Mother, Sandra Lynne Rafos, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023. She died peacefully at home with her daughters Kim, Sharon and Robin by her side. She lived an amazing and spirited life. No doubt she is dancing in heaven with our Father. May they walk together, reunited in peace. Ellie :) elliestock(a)aol.com FEBRUARY ENVIRONMENTAL FILM: OYATE The February in the 2024 Environmental Film Series hosted by The Ferguson Eco Team will be "OYATE, and will be shown, Thursday, February 22, 7:00 PM Central Time. The Dakota Access Pipeline protests became an inflection point for Indigenous people and modern tribal sovereignty. Thousands of people from across the country gathered at the STANDING ROCK reservation to stand in solidarity with the Lakota people. Since then, community leaders have used their newfound platform to organize and educate people about their issues. OYATE uses the #NoDAPL struggle as a jumping off point to dive into an array of issues that affect Indigenous people. The film centers around a diverse group of Indigenous voices led by activist Phyllis Young, attorney Chase Iron Eyes, hip hop artist Stuart James, and Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland as they unravel a history of systemic oppression defined by broken treaties, land theft, and cultural erasure. The latter half of the story follows the subjects on the ground as they take the fight to state governments, Washington DC, and eventually the United Nations. Conversation to follow the film. Bob Booher: End of Journey on Earth

Dear Friends, On Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 08:19:31 PM CST, Sarah Booher (gefbooher(a)stny.rr.com) wrote: Bob passed away this morning Feb 18 about 11 am. It was peaceful with family there. Today she wrote and asked me to share on the list serves: We are working on the obituary. Bob did not want a funeral. He wanted the family to hold a private memorial event outside on his daughter’s farm at a later time. People are encouraged to make a donation to a worthy local charity of their choice and he was very involved with good vocal groups struggling financially… don’t they all. Sarah will forward the obituary when it is complete. Carleton and I worked with Bob as part of the Rochester LCX for the six years we were there--many meetings and events between our neighboring congregation, Dewey Avenue Presbyterian Church and his, Christ Presbyterian Church. Bob was a mentor, friend, and colleague, and we always appreciated his sense of care, compassion, sense of humor, and passion for justice, grounded in local communities. Our paths crossed many times through the ICA and in 2014 when he and Sarah attended the 40th reunion of the Rochester Region Global Odyssey. We had a chance to talk with him a few weeks ago when he was looking for the words to the Being Song and also the In Memoriam Reflection, at that time in hospice care. He said he was half-way through the 6 months' time the doctors gave him. A few days ago we talked with Sarah and Bob was talking in the background, saying he was "lumping along". I asked, limping along?, and he said just "lumping" along. We give thanks for and celebrate the gift of his passionate life, his care and love for creation (grounded in their farm) and for his love of music and singing. Our prayers are with Sarah and all the family. May Bob's legacy live on through those whose lives he touched. Grace and peace~Ellie elliestock(a)aol.com
