Thanks to those who responded both off and on the list serve to my email. I am hopeful that more of us could/would share what we’re about. Our monthly “Ecclesiola” in Austin has been a most helpful work in centering us and focusing us on our lives and work. Joe once said to those who wished to depart the order that you’d do the same thing we’re doing here, and I think he was right. I’m especially appreciative of the work of the Cocks daily journey, which helps start my day as well as the work of the Sands, Wards, Marshalls and so many others. A long time ago each religious house sent in a weekly report by mail (before internet). I don’t know how much we read it (don’t remember getting the summaries), but preparing it was helpful. The work that everyone is up to is encouraging to know. I support the work on the archives, however I don’t think we’re finished and much more to contribute in this Phase 4. The McCabes had a great program for us this month, which featured a video of a speech by Fr. Gregory Boyle. The conversation helped us focus in on what we’ve done and are doing for the poor and those on the margins. I recommend it. Best wishes on your mission. Two really tightly contested Nevada races. I hope my donation helps them run the table! NEV. SENATE Competitive race Jacky Rosen (D) Congresswoman Rosen is challenging Sen. Dean Heller, who is considered one of the most vulnerable Senate Republicans in this cycle. She faces a male opponent in the general election. NEV. 3RD DISTRICT Competitive race Susie Lee (D) Philanthropist Lee, a wealthy philanthropist, is up against fellow nonincumbent Danny Tarkanian in what's considered one of Nevada's most competitive House districts. Hi Sherwood, I think most of these songs are available on the Golden CD. I compiled a separate songbook that includes these songs plus additional Town Meeting and other songs. But if folks are still meeting, these might be fun to have to use with groups. During our Sept. meeting we did a brainstorm on topics we thought we should look at in coming months, and we thought we would share with you, and possibly get your input. CALL TO ALL 10 15 2018 Today I went north searching for a worthy woman candidate in the entire state of Oregon. Found only one woman running for the House but her only qualification was that she is a Democrat, not in a competitive race and I had some questions about her qualifications. Seriously? In the whole state of Oregon? OK, so I went further north and voila! Found two terrific women running for congress. Check them out below! WASH. 8TH DISTRICT Competitive race Kim Schrier (D) Pediatrician Schrier is running for a seat being vacated by Rep. Dave Reichert (R) and is a top Democratic pickup hope for 2018. Schrier is a first-time candidate. She faces a male opponent in the general election. WASH. 5TH DISTRICT Competitive race Lisa Brown (D) Former Washington Senate majority leader Brown trailed Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, No. 4 in the House Republican leadership, by only a few hundred votes in the top-two primary, making this race one to watch in November.
