My inconclusive travel plans 2012.... I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump. I can make it if it's not too high. I have also been in Doubt. That can be a confusing place to go. I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm. Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older. One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get! I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing. PLEASE DO YOUR PART! Today is one of the many National Mental Health Days throughout the year. You can do your bit by remembering to send an e-mail to at least one unstable person. My job is done! Life is too short for negative drama and petty things. Can't help but make a connection between Jim Baumbach's comment and Herman Greene's request for the parts of the daily office. Jim, seems to me that your commentary about "us" and our self talk, particularly as "United States ers" is both accurate and sort of damning. At the same time, there would be people who would take exception to the EI daily office (attached) . Nonetheless, the notion of having a strong, and accurate daily office to rehearse still seems compelling. I went to church with my son's family, and the liturgy seemed to lack drama. Teilhard de Chardin made up his own Mass on the world, and to me it is in the right direction, I have never figured out how to do it, however. Dear Colleagues, Is anyone reading or taking part in a discussion of Karen Armstrong's book, Twelve Steps To A Compassionate Life? Karen writes, "Do we want to succumb to our reptilian brain, when we have seen for ourselves what can happen when hatred, disgust, greed, or the desire for vengeance consume entire groups? In our perilously divided world, compassion is in our best interest. To acquire it, however, will demand an immense effort of mind and heart." I am considering this book for our Seekers group at the UCC in Holyoke, MA. I would like to dialogue with anyone working on compassion. Muriel

Continually struck how fearful & non- rational some US of A political leaders are including my own congress-woman Michelle Bachman who just raised $13m from outside the congressional district on her islamo-phobia and this guy Gohmert from Texas who seems to feel personally attacked by cable news "news" about a bezerker medical student in Denver. What story do these people live in? (John Dunne's Q in Time & Myth) seems like a better Q. None seem grounded in either a forward-facing story or in a local community either. Seems like there is a need for 20 Something training for the future; maybe the A77 Interns and that Action Based Learning approach is headed forward. I liked it when I was there. I like Brian Stanfield's book Courage To Lead as well. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said Friday that the shootings that took place in an Aurora, Colo. movie theater hours earlier were a result of "ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs" and questioned why nobody else in the theater had a gun to take down the shooter. During a radio interview on The Heritage Foundation's "Istook Live!" show, Gohmert was asked why he believes such senseless acts of violence take place. Gohmert responded by talking about the weakening of Christian values in the county "You know what really gets me, as a Christian, is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of terror like this takes place," Gohmert said. "Some of us happen to believe that when our founders talked about guarding our virtue and freedom, that that was important," he said. "Whether it's John Adams saying our Constitution was made only for moral and religious people ... Ben Franklin, only a virtuous people are capable of freedom, as nations become corrupt and vicious they have more need of masters ... We have been at war with the very pillars, the very foundation of this country." Ernest Istook, the host of the show and a former Oklahoma congressman, jumped in to clarify that nobody knows the motivation of the alleged Aurora gunman. Gohmert said that may be true, but suggested the shootings were still "a terrorist act" that could have been avoided if the country placed a higher value on God. "People say ... where was God in all of this?" Gohmert said. "We've threatened high school graduation participations, if they use God's name, they're going to be jailed ... I mean that kind of stuff. Where was God? What have we done with God? We don't want him around. I kind of like his protective hand being present." Gohmert also said the tragedy could have been lessened if someone else in the movie theater had been carrying a gun and took down the lone shooter. Istook noted that Colorado laws allow people to carry concealed guns. "It does make me wonder, with all those people in the theater, was there nobody that was carrying a gun that could have stopped this guy more quickly?" he asked. CORRECTION: Due to a transcription error, a previous version of this article quoted Gohmert as referring to the shooting as a "crazy act of a derelict." He in fact called it "a crazy act of terror like this." The error has been corrected.

This transestablishment vision brings together parts of the establishment with parts of disestabishment into a transestablishment program of action that identifies two huge enemies: the reactionary proestablishment and the futilitarian disestablishment. We see this in the political realm in the polarity of reactionary conservatives and absolute anarchists. We see this within historical Christianity in the polarity of two-story literalists and one-story antitheists. The transestablishment is a sort of middle ground that is actually neither left nor right but way ahead. The transesblishment are "Those who Care" in an intensified depth of Care. And Mathews so often pointed out, such Care includes a willingness to live this depth of integrity unto death. Both establishment and disestablishment forces are ready with their crosses.
