Dear Order Community, I am writing to share the news that Charles died this afternoon in Bloomington, Indiana. Charles had dementia which had progressed during the past few months. A couple of weeks ago he fell, resulting in transfer to a nursing facility where he died today. Doris, Shelley and I, and our families, are grateful for his life in ways too numerous to say right now. At some point, when the pandemic crisis is no longer a threat, there will be a memorial service. We will share those details when plans are made. He was deeply loved and will be missed. After his fall, I authored a blog post to my father on Just A Thought, the site my husband, Pat Moriarty, established for writing on recovery, sobriety, and general life wisdom. I share that post with you here: https://justathoughtbypat.com/2020/03/to-my-father-by-marsha/ In gratitude, Marsha, Shelley and Doris Contact information for the family: Doris Hahn927 E. Dear Doris, Marsha and Shelley, My condolences to you on the death of your father. Although it is inevitable, the final departure of someone we love and who has been a landmark in our lives is hard to bear. Marsha, your account of your last visit and your memories of your dad were very moving and gave me another view of Charles compared to the one I had as a colleague. I remember him as someone whose words came with a lot of introspection, reflection and a quiet passion. I am grateful to have known him. with love,Dharma n Saturday, 28 March 2020, 09:38:50 am GMT+8, Marsha Hahn via OE <oe@lists.wedgeblade.net> wrote: Dear Order Community, I am writing to share the news that Charles died this afternoon in Bloomington, Indiana. Dear Doris, Shelley and Marsha, In deep gratitude for the life of Charles and the Hahn family! From my first encounter as prior in Centrum, to getting us married just 46 years ago tomorrow, and through his life and spirit in the community and world since. We are continually blessed by his presence. With love, Gail and Dick On Sun, Mar 29, 2020 at 12:40 PM Sunny Walker via OE < oe@lists.wedgeblade.net> wrote:

Dear Marsha, Shelly, and Doris, I have very positive memories of Charles from the short time our family lived at Centrum. I experienced Charles as trusted and respectful. Dear Marsha, Pat, Shelley, Doris, I just finished reading *To My Father *on Pat's Just a Thought site. It is a clear, open, full, and strong-hearted tribute to your Father. And it is bringing back treasured images of my father. Thank you. I knew your father only slightly, however I was aware of his stabilizing, caring, life-giving presence in the community. And Doris, working with you, even briefly, in the archives, gleaning some of your deep historical knowledge, was wonderful. It was with sadness and gratitude that we read of Charles’ passing. Sadness that a good man breathed his last and gratitude for a life well lived that touched us deeply. We so appreciated his wisdom and spirit when we lived together in Brussels and Chicago. “As we live we are transmitters of life.” Thank you Charles.
