Dear Doris, Marsha and Shelley,

My condolences to you on the death of your father. Although it is inevitable, the final departure of someone we love and who has been a landmark in our lives is hard to bear. Marsha, your account of your last visit and your memories of your dad were very moving and gave me another view of Charles compared to the one I had as a colleague. I remember him as someone whose words came with a lot of introspection, reflection and a quiet passion. I am grateful to have known him.

Dear Order Community,

I am writing to share the news that Charles died this afternoon in Bloomington, Indiana. Charles had dementia which had progressed during the past few months. A couple of weeks ago he fell, resulting in transfer to a nursing facility where he died today. 

Doris, Shelley and I, and our families, are grateful for his life in ways too numerous to say right now. At some point, when the pandemic crisis is no longer a threat, there will be a memorial service. We will share those details when plans are made. He was deeply loved and will be missed.
