The man with glasses in the 6th picture (c31210.jpg) with two women is John Dettmann, Susan Dettmann Wegner's father. That was a surprise! This picture was likely taken on a boat crossing the Nile in Egypt dating to when Susan and I were assigned to Bayad (1978-1982), and her parents were visiting. I happened to be in Delta Pace at the time of Jenny’s death. March ’77? I think that Frank & Sandra were away at the funeral of voter and civil rights hero, Fannie Lou Hamer (who I had also met). A big wind came through and blew down a high-peaked abandoned store front, instantly killing Jenny Washington (early twenties). She was alone in front as I recall. You're right Tim. That picture was taken crossing the Nile into Bayad. I could not remember the name of the man or the local woman in the photo, but I am the woman on the left. The time period was actually earlier in the '70's, as I was assigned there early in the consult for the El Bayad HDP. I think you are right, I got the dates wrong. We went to Egypt in 1974 or so. We weren't there for the consult. When we arrived in Egypt, the ICA had been kicked out of Bayad (more accurately, the foreigners left for a summer program, and we weren't allowed back in), and it took a few months of negotiation to get back in. The Bayad consult was in October 1976. The Pooles came in April of 1977. We went to Nigeria in March of 1978. The issue over foreigners getting back into Bayad was after that, probably the summer of 1978. From the mobile desk of Jo Nelson
