We slept on Ondul floors (heated underneath….if we were lucky) and on a Yo mat (80x60 inches) which was just about the size of the room. We rolled it up in the morning and placed on a bench built into the back wall of the room where our clothes were placed. The walls were made of rice paper like you see in the movies and since our room was next to the rice storage room, the mice made their way across our room for their nightly meal. Fortunately they did not bother us as the “tasty” stuff was in the room next to ours that they had to pass through.

The walls were so thin where we were housed, that we use to joke in the morning that we sometimes said to the couple in the next room, on the floor also. Let’s see if we can surpass your “mating” rituals and noise tonight….all in fun, I will not share who that couple was in the room on the floor next to us.
