Dear Friends,
It was good to be together with many of you via zoom for the Archives Social Research Assembly and then for the beautiful Celebration of Life of Charles Hahn, both profound experiences in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic and the Racism Pandemic and Social Upheaval we are experiencing now.
Attached is another reflection:  FIRE ERUPTING, reflecting on this past week, Pentecost, and the birthday (today) of French priest, mystic, paleontologist (on the team in China discovering the Peking Man), and writer Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (see below), silenced by the Catholic Church because of his writings focussing on the continuing emerging process of Life, synthisizing science, faith, spirit, and mysticism.  There is a film crew making a documentary on his life that will be shown on PBS, hopefully in 2021.  (The Teilhard de Chardin Project: www.TeilhardProject.com)
Protests continue in Ferguson as in hundreds of places in the country and world that are now understanding what Ferguson and other places have experienced in recent years related to systemic racism and violence.  The police, including the black police chief who has come to our Ministries Alliance Meetings, have been restrained, conversing and even walking with the peaceful protestors but, as a last resort, turn to tear gas and smoke bombs when other elements, the pattern showing up across the country, enter the scene and turn the situation more violent--throwing fireworks, incendiary devices, rocks and frozen water bottles and shattering windows, doors, writing graffiti, looting stores, and attempting to set fire to a couple of businesses.  Media crews and helicopters circling over our house then spew the news to the TV stations.  Residents show up early the next morning, cleaning up the broken glass, bottles and other scattered mess, boarding up windows and doors, and scrubbing off the graffiti.
We keep you and your communities/cities in prayer as we all seek to discern how best to know, do and be as humanity now and as we move into the future.
Now to go outside in the sun and plant some flowers . . .
Grace and peace and blessings ~

5/31(Pentecost)-6/01/2020 (Birthday of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin:  Thetask before us know, if we would not perish, is to shake off our ancientprejudices and build the Earth . . . Someday after mastering the winds, thewaves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then for the second time humankind will have discovered fire.)
