Thanks for the report, Herman. I ran Boston 13 times, starting 1983, and the
warmest day I had to contend with was in the

middle 70s. I ran all those years as a fund raiser for Heifer Project
International, as Team Heifer
from rainy Oregon,

Thanks Del! Your comment made me laugh. I do admire people who have the
courage to do crazy things.

So, Herman, I bow and salute you. Congratulations too!

I ran the Boston Marathon yesterday. The temperature reached 89 degrees, 153
people were treated at area hospitals, and 8 were in critical condition at
some stage though no one died.

Here's a testimony to the conditions:

"This was the toughest marathon I've ever run, and I've done 5 Ironmans, 3
Bostons and about 20 marathons," said Mark Williams, 45, of Richmond , Va.
He said his time was 30 minutes slower than six months ago. "It was brutal."

I was able to keep running and I also finished about 30 minutes slower than
I had hoped. It was a real mind trip. I didn't really know what to do to
sustain myself in the race. I had never run a marathon in those conditions
before.

All in all though, it was marvelous. One of those crazy things we do for
fun!

Herman
