[Dialogue] Standing Rock Assistance for our 2nd Generation Presence

Dear Colleagues of the lst Generation  (1G) of OE,

Our prayers for Standing Rock can take many forms, but one action in particular that I call your attention to is that of our 2nd Generation (2G) that we formerly called our Emerging Generation (EG).

Those of you on Facebook may have seen that the 2nd Generation of OE younger adults ( once EG),  are being represented at Standing Rock. They have raised money to get Shelia Johnson (daughter of Byrne Johnson) on site with some equipment to assist with the midwife and medical team as a cook and support person.   However,  with the situation moving into colder weather they are aware that more substantial equipment is needed.  They are working on purchasing an insulated bus that will serve as a  dorm for the midwives  and medics and as a kitchen.  Nina Crow Rhys  (Stan's daughter) has requested support from us lst Generation OE Elders as they work to Stand with Standing Rock in this attempt to protect the water and sacred grounds.  She is also headed to Standing Rock where her experience as a doula will be a gift to the midwife team.

North Dakota based Alex St. Clair  (son of Bob and Kate) will also be there and is assisting as Shelia's support staff.     Attached is a more complete proposal  from Alex.   Many years ago, our  EG were with us as we embarked upon our mission to make a difference.  Let's support them in this endeavor of being a presence that they are making on behalf of many of us.  If you have already sent a contribution, many thanks.  If you haven't gotten around to it yet, there is great need to move on this quickly so the bus can be outfitted for the cause.   If you know of others who aren't on these lists or of others who might respond to this call, please pass this on.

 We are so grateful for the presence that Diane Greenwald and Salvatore Caruso have been at Standing Rock during the fall and now  for the support they are bringing to  Native families who are wintering there with their children.  We are grateful for Ellie and Carlton Stock's presence there as well with other representatives from the Presbyterian Church USA.
