Song video: Let the Earth Breathe
Hi Folks, Holy Week/Easter/Earth Day-Month Greetings from St Louie! I hope you all are doing well as we hope we are emerging slowly from the coronavirus pandemic and also hope for the effective, efficient and equitable distribution of the vaccine, not only in the US but globally. We still have yet to put the same effort into addressing the environmental/climate change and racism/violence pandemics. Along those themes, I wanted to share with you a link to a song video "Let the Earth Breathe" our daughter, Chenoa (who, now, working in Peru, has also worked in Bolivia, Sri Lanka, and India), and I worked on. Some background. After Carleton, and I "retired" in 2011, we decided we wanted to focus our work on addressing the environment from the Universe Story perspective. In 2012 we decided to host a winter/spring environmental film series in Ferguson to start our effort, which included showing "Journey of the Universe". The last program in May was not a film but the "Awakening the Dreamer" Symposium. It was also part of the ICA 50th Anniversary Event. For that event, I wrote the song "Let the Earth Breathe". Out of that event came a core of people who were interested in pursuing environmental issues and eventually became the Ferguson Eco Team which is still active (and will be re-showing that film April 15). Later that year Chenoa and I made an audio recording of our singing the song together (not professional--mainly just to have a record of it) which I sent out over the ICA list serve and was later included as part of the Ecumenical (Church of Australia) Season of Creation resource curriculum (www.seasonofcreation.org). Since then, it has been used in several services and other events. Over the years, as we have experienced the intersectionality of issues related to the environment, racism, pandemic, economic/social disparities, the song has taken on additional levels of meaning. In 2020 Chenoa and I started working on photos that could accompany it. We finished that in January, and Carleton and I used it for a zoom environmental session (1st of a four part environmental series) we did February 21 with Central Presbyterian Church in Denver, CO, coordinated and facilitated by Sherwood and Eunice Shankland. (Jim and OliveAnn Slotta were also present, commenting on their work related to the Accelerate Environmental Forums they are facilitating in the Denver area). So, below is the link to the song video and attached are the music notation and lyrics. 2.15.21 Let the Earth Breathe.mp4 Grapes and peas, be well, and Holy Week/Easter/Earth Day blessings! Dear Ellie, We used your song in our liturgy in the last Season of Creation! The month of September is set aside for Seasons of Creation in the Australian liturgical Ecumenical calendar And I remember singing your song! World Environment Sunday is in early June, so we may well use your song again then! Oh, give thanks for the global village! Our Church, Pitt St Uniting Church, has just inducted a new Transgender woman Minister. It will be a wonderful journey with her. As for the floods, they have abated, but the job of clearing up the mud etc., and finding homes for those who lost everything in the torrents, is still a huge task before us all. Many people still have not had their insurance claims recognised from the devastating bushfires of 2019/20. Some still live in caravans. I went to see the Movie Nomadland, and was deeply moved. My 11 years of living in the US has shaped me to be who I am, and I still connect strongly with your way of life. Our daughter Rebecca was born and raised for the first year of her life in a ghetto in Cleveland. A very enriching experience for us three. My life was changed forever. Blessings without number on you all, my dear colleagues and friends. Isobel Isobel and Jim Bishop isobeljimbish@optusnet.com.au

Phyllis and Len – hi from Colorado and to all y’all around the planet, I am sending you the outline and session descriptions of our four-session Faith Formation class that we organized with the Stock’s help and conducted online at Central Presbyterian Church in Denver. Starting the classes with music and ending with each participant writing a prayer were a great way to frame the participatory presentations each week. Feel free to use this class design as you wish. Special thanks to Ellie and Carleton for helping to build the sessions and to kick it off as guests for the first week. The first session started with “Let the Earth Breathe” setting a powerful sacred / practical tone. Next step for the participants is to join in Earth Day activities at home and in neighborhood around greater Denver. We intend for this kickoff to formalize an Earth Care Team to include the congregation and residents from the North Capitol Hill neighborhood near the heart of Downtown. Easter blessings all around for relentless resurrection in our lives. / Sherwood and Eunice From: OE <oe-bounces@lists.wedgeblade.net> On Behalf Of Phyllis Hockley via OE Sent: 31 March, 2021 11:29 AM To: Order Ecumenical Community <oe@lists.wedgeblade.net>; 'Ellie Stock' <elliestock@aol.com>; dialogue@lists.wedgeblade.net Cc: Phyllis Hockley <phyllish@efn.org> Subject: Re: [Oe List ...] Song video: Let the Earth Breathe This is great!
