Christina will lead a dialogue on the volatile dynamics in the Middle East, focused on Turkey's internal challenges and its relationship with Iraq, particularly northern Iraq. Christina is a doctoral candidate whose gift and passion as a peacemaker finds her working with refugees in neighborhoods in Turkey; has developed a professional woman's organization to expand services to refugees; and maintains her work in international relations. The International Neighbourhood Symposium promoted further understanding and cooperation in the Black Sea region and beyond by providing a forum for study, dialogue and networking in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment. Biography From 2006-2010, Christina worked with the Istanbul Policy Center located at Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey. She previously worked with the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of Commerce, both in Washington, DC. Christina is now a Research Fellow at the Center for International and European Studies at Kadir Has University in Istanbul. PhD Thesis Title and Abstract Turkish Private Sector Development in Northern Iraq Christina's aim is to describe the influence of Turkey's Private Sector in Northern Iraq. To what extent can the Turkish private sector not only contribute to an easing of relations between Turkey and the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), but also contribute to an increase in stability and facilitate reconstruction in the KRG governed region despite an on-going war in Iraq? In-depth interviews and semi-structured observations will be conducted.
