Multiple myths are being promulgated (replacement theory, Dems bringing in more people to vote for them, etc.) while resources are expended by the good state of Texas on barbed wire and National Guard troops instead of functional systems to receive, determine asylum claims, and channeling folk. Bloomberg news talks about the negative birth rate in the USA requiring a higher influx of immigration than is currently legal; politicizing the issues (including holding back any action to ‘deny a victory’ to opponents) has removed rationality from the discussion. Feds spending millions on retention camps both in construction and staffing – and staffing with the same Border Patrol folk who could be processing immigrants. Self-defeating strategies seem all the rage. Watching El Salvador to see the effect of tightening down on gangs. ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform.’ That along with a two-state solution and world peace seems out of reach. We used to be concerned about the tyranny of the economic. Under populism, culture may have become the tyrant squeezing the economic pretty heavily – at least in terms of workforce availability. The demography of low fertility is silently influencing our economics, our societies and politics, jeopardizing hard-won gains. Who is this far right group? It is predominantly males under the age of 35. With all the cultural, political and economic changes, they feel left behind. Attack sex-ed, trans, reproductive information etc. Restrict info to women about their bodies. “Let’s be Christian about all this."
