Dear Friends/Colleagues, Ok, last week I got an email from Alisa Oyler that her mother, Marilyn Oyler, is turning 80 in April. She asked me if I would send her a card listing a particular gift she brought to the world or at least a card. No problem- her mom is full of gifts. And then this morning John Patterson called me up looking for an email address. We chatted and he let me know that his 80th birthday was April 22, Earth Day. It is just like John to have his birthday on the most important day of the year. I think it is part of the Order Rule that we send anybody who makes it to 80 a card holding up a gift. Well, at least a card. I just sent John a card that said, “I looked all over Chicago for an 80th birthday card, but nothing. This is as close as I could get- Happy 90th birthday- something to grow into!” Marilyn Oyler: 4208 N. 25th Street, Phoenix, AZ, 85016, USA John Patterson: 1487 Cranberry Lake Road, Haliburton ON, KOM 1S0, Canada Being late is good- just send a card. Great to "hear" so many voices. Where are my 90 year old, as of last August, colleagues? I moved to Macomb, IL, from Seattle after Jim died in 2010, at the urging of my sister and to be closer to Mark, Russell, Nathan, and Diane - and to an apartment in Wesley Village 2.5 years ago - a very good place to be at this point in time. Thank you, Methodists! Dorothea Jewell, Wesley Village, 1200 E. Grant Street, Macomb, IL, 61455, 309-318-9289.
Happy Birthday to Marilyn and John and others who have just turned 80 or are in their 80s--part of the Four Score Club! We give thanks for and celebrate your being in history.
