To mark the occasion, the City of Chicago named the portion of Fifth Avenue that runs in front of the preschool as "Ruth Carter Lane" (see photos). Ruth's entire family, along with preschoolers, parents, and residents of Fifth City, were there to mark the occasion. Sharon and Bruce Texley, Karen and Jim Troxel, Pamela and I, represented the global EI/OE/ICA community. It was a grand event.
