And Joseph Campbell throws in his two cents:
“Anything that can be said or thought of God is, as it were, a screen between us and God. If we take it literally, absolutely, we are in a way short-circuiting our own experience of an ultimately ineffable mystery, something that cannot be talked about.Half of the people in the world think the reference of a metaphor is a fact. The other half of the world knows that it's a lie. So we have people who believe in God as a fact and people who believe that he's not a fact: theists and atheists. The real position is to realize that the word God is metaphorical of a mystery, and the mystery is absolutely beyond all human comprehension. The first thing to know when you're dealing with these symbolic forms is that the ultimate reference is beyond all categories of human thought.”- Joseph Campbell

 Dear Jim,

Thanks for this reply. ‘Where angels fear to tread.'

In birth and in death, carnality is still tinged with the sacred, as in the birth myth of Jesus, and in his bodily death; as in the birth of a new family member and the death of an elder. In our cohort, this is nearly all of our ’news’.
How to re-sacralize human love is challenging these days.
Given the craziness of much of social media, (dating through TikTok) and the reams of sexist ads that went with the Daily Mail's brief report on the ‘love hormone’ oxytocin, where is 'the sacred’ expressed? Body hatred and sex-ploitation abound. This is an even more de-humanizing Victorianism.
In the context of our approaching deaths, that Mary and I are having the best sex of our lives, seems too extraordinary not to share with our family and friends. Who knew? We did not. We want to address the reclamation of one’s body, and every body as sacred.
The eleven-week 20,000 death count of mostly Palestinian women and children, a number that is one third of all the Canadian casualties of the five years of WWII, is also a statement of our humanity’s tragedy.
Eros and Thanatos is ever our nature.
Here’s to 'the peace that passeth understanding’.

Ken and Mary …
I have been noticing your journey on facebook. Good on you!  I finally got round to reading Ken’s report on your journey to Denmark and dear Soren and all.  Much, if not all of his writing goes over my head.  There are a couple of sentences that stick with me — the one about the self is a relation… is one of them.
I ran across a research finding a while ago that may be related.  It reported a study finding that men who reported having sex recently were more likely to report believing in God.  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3806564/amp/Having-sex-makes-men-likely-believe-God-miracle-them.html
Not sure if this fits, thought I would share

Dear Colleagues,
Many months ago, I consulted with you about my partner, Mary Farrar and I making a Kierkegaard Pilgrimage in July ‘23 to Copenhagen.
With Michael May as my primary accountability in completing my reflection, I offer it to you in humility, gratitude, and compassion.
I am also grateful for the input of Alan Richard (Realistic Living), Beret Hansen, Jo Nelson, Gene Marshall, and David Dunn.
I am grateful for the response of Christina Clark.
I am ultimately utterly obligated, dependent, and grateful for our time in the O:E, and our JWM, SK heritage.
Let me tell you now, that this is sexually explicit.
