While George Sisler was introduced at a couple of research assemblies I attended, I met him one-on-one in the early ‘80s when I represented EI at an annual gala for the Church Federation of Greater Chicago. I asked him about his selection process in offering the job to Mathews in 1962. He enjoyed re-telling the story about his surprise when several people began work though only one salary was in the contract. He said he never saw any group stretch a dollar further than than the Ecumenical Institute! Terry
