Somewhere in our files, we have a small pamphlet of Carl’s poems published around his 90th birthday. One of them is quoted in John’s Journey Reflection above.
Another that I recall is about how he and his beloved Ruth loved to dance. A very special poem that he wrote after her death a number of years ago.
So a special song tribute is “I will go dancing, I will go dancing, I will go dancing in my soul, for I have touched the hem of his garment and his love has made me whole.”

We celebrate Carl’s contributions to Journey Reflection from time to time. A keen thinker!

Carl and Ruth were a special part of our year in Denver around 1982. Ruth always brought goodies and Carl always came with a hammer to fix something. A special memory is his giving 5 yr old Jeremiah a ride in his “cherry picker” lift on his truck which was at the Denver House to make 2nd or 3rd story repairs. When we returned to Denver for a visit, his niece brought him over to see us. One of his many volunteer activities in his retirement years was reading with primary students who were struggling with their reading.

Carl, so good to “meet” your large extended family in the photos Jim sent along. We celebrate your century mark coming up this week. We give thanks for your lifetime of service to your church and community and the world. Happy and healthy 100th!!!

Dance then wherever you may be,

Lynda and John Cock
Davidson, NC.
