[Oe List ...] [Dialogue] Global Academy

It was always, as far as I know, on a case-by-case basis that credit was given for the Academy. There was a year that I was responsible for shaping the letters to institutions on the basis of individual requests and the only other person I know of that ever had this “assignment” was Barbara Barkoney. We needed to know what the student was studying and what they thought the value of the Academy had been to their field of study. We spoke about the curriculum as a whole and highlighted courses and authors (of papers and sometimes whole books) that we felt had particular importance to their field. It was a strenuous back and forth process and sometimes produced nothing from the institutions involved and sometimes received considerable credit.

I have no idea how it would be handled at this time, but someone could do their own homework and create a request. It could possibly then be sent to an institution by someone who was a part of their Academy staff, but this person would have to be ready to handle the follow-up.

I'm sure a few of us got credit, but likely on a case-by-case basis and course-by-course. So far, no one has mentioned institutional acreditation of the Academy, tho that would certainly have been nice!
Neither Doug nor I got credit for graduate work; that likely would have been much tougher.

I’m pretty sure that Mirja Hanson got some hefty credits toward her BA in Minneapolis for her academy training. The most recent email I have for her is mirjah at aol.com; work phone is 651-291-4528.

Not that I know of. College credit was rather low on our set of priorities in the 60’s and early 70’s.

Hi Jim,

Thought I would send you an email and I will follow up with a phone call in the hour
as your requested…

Hope life has been good to you these last years. I see you are still such a strong vanguard
for the Institute and the work that has flowed from it…including TOPS.

I am interested in information about how
The Academy was accredited by more than 50 colleges, universities and seminaries.
Over the years, I am sure schools gave credit for the coursework of the Academy.
Can you please forward me any information on assessment of the curriculum.

Warm regards,
Susan
