Ruth,
It was great to hear your stories of classroom connections to the space
program. We've lived in such exciting times. I heard the 747 rumble overhead,
but missed seeing it. Guess it flew up the east side of the central valley
to Sacramento, over to the Golden Gate and then down the coast.
As for the next generation, my son Barry is going to interview for a job
with NASA next week, as a machinist making parts for the telescope on Mauna
Kea. He works for a Navy contractor at Pearl Harbor now, where they're
worried about Pentagon budget cuts. Working at 14,000 feet appeals to him, I
think.
I've really enjoyed the string that Tim's retirement announcement started.
Thank you, Tim and blessings on your future journey.
In Love,
Jann McGuire

A few days ago on September 21st we had the fly over of the Endeavor
piggybacked on its 747 on the way to Los Angeles. I missed seeeing it
flying right over this area, but many of my friends saw it, and lots
of pictures were posted of it flying over Santa Cruz and the Monterey
Bay.
