And I just thought of another connection I hadn’t made before! A connection with our intentional conversation method, ORID.

O Objective God’s Attributes (Praise/Adoration)
R Reflective I have sinned, I will sin (Confession)
I Interpretive Here is what I need to give thanks for, even it is not obvious that some of these things are good (Thanksgiving)
D Decisional Commitment (Supplication: “I will, with God’s help…”)

Similar construct (different sequencing) for classic prayer:
A Adoration
C Confession
T Thanksgiving
S Supplication

Herman,
You are right: there are four parts of worship: Thanksgiving, Confession,Praise and Dedication or commitment. We never began worship without dirst acknowledgement of who we pray, then confession of our unworthiness for alll we have received, which leads us to remember not only the goodness of our own lives but the amazing creative love of God, which in turn calls for our dedication or commitment. Thanks for asking, from one of the early writers of liturgy in the Order.
        Nan Grow

I can’t believe I can’t remember this, but what are the four parts of worship?

Confession, praise, commitment . . . ???
