[Dialogue] Death of Ken Smith

Dear Colleagues:
 
Judith and I are saddened to report the death of Ken Smith, a guardian of  
the Movement for over 40 years.  We met Ken and Barb Smith in our church in  
Cleveland in the early 70's.  Both of the Smiths have been strong  
supporters of the work of the Institutes, first in the Cleveland Region and  later 
in the Detroit Region.  Ken died on May 8th, following a ten year  struggle 
with Parkinson's disease.  Barb and Ken had a great passion for  many social 
issues, and provided leadership in the Detroit Presbyterian  church.
 
The Smiths have been strong supporters of our family, also.  In 1979  they 
hosted a fundraising party to raise funds enabling us to pay the costs of  
our first deployment to Adelaide, Australia,  After Meg's accident, they  set 
up what came to be known as "The Meg Fund", enlisting friends and 
colleagues  to assist us in the care of Meg.  Since 1987, the fund has provided  
thousands of dollars to help us afford to keep Meg with us at home.
