 Greetings from St. Louis/Ferguson/Dellwood~

Thanks, Diann and George, for forwarding this article on Charles Moore. I have been thinking about him a lot since the August 9 killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson and Ferguson's subsequent self-immolation last week to draw the world's attention to racism as it manifests itself locally, nationally and globally in political, economic, and cultural inequity and injustice. Perhaps it is an unfair comparison, as many involved in the fires were criminals and opportunists, yet I believe the pervasive, underlying contradiction of racism and anger with the present unresponsive systems was the contributing factor. Many in Ferguson, who,for the last decades, have worked tirelessly and tried proactively to address issues of diversity, inclusivity, and racism, are determined that what happened here will not be just another "incident" but that Ferguson will be a turning point in this nation's understanding, experience, and demonstration of "liberty and justice for ALL." The crimson line converges from origins of New York City, Cleveland, Florida, Albuquerque, South Carolina, and many other places and continues toward a common destiny . . .

It has been raining here--like the weeping Mystery's tears quenching for good the fires and smoldering carcasses of burned out buildings and cleansing the area, giving a glistening sheen to the newly citizen-painted and decorated protective boarding of businesses, many closed, some still open--many under the shadow of the "Seasons Greetings" banner hanging across S. Florissant.

For those celebrating Advent--may this be a season of
    Hope beyond hope abounding,
        Peace surpassing,
            Joy and thanksgiving unceasing,
                Love unconditioning and incarnating . . .

Diann McCabe spotted this in the Texas Monthly magazine. Quite a good story on Charles.
