The subject line, "the old Order passing away," has been grabbing my attention for several days now as I open my email. While that is certainly a statement of fact in regard to our EI/OE/ICA community, it is far from being the whole story. During the past academic year, September-May 2012, ICA-USA had 200+ university students engaged in preparation field work for the city-wide share fair, "Accelerate 77." Then, for ten weeks during the summer, we were rocked daily with 40 interns passionately "bending history" as they completed the work. Their presence has been living proof of our 50th Anniversary slogan, "Midway in a Century of Care." The following link will give you a glimpse at what I'm talking about. You'll see Seva Gandhi, a full-time staff person of ICA-USA and a current member of the ICA-International Board of Directors, and Dylan Amlin, one of the summer interns, being interviewed about the "Sharing Approaches That Work" event on September 15: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNtJle4YfH0&feature=bf_prev&list=UUdS0glKdGeDSaDVQfwuL6FA All is good, all is received, that past is approved, the future is open. Take care, Terry
Hi Terry, I appreciate this as one who experiences working regularly with young adults and elders as well who are passionately engaged in "bending history". 20 will be meeting this evening to envision the next 5 years of ICA Canada's work. After being a part of the eventfulness of Accelerate 77, the unveiling of the 50/50 art form, and work in The Archives with 13 colleagues over the past three weeks, I second Terry's comments. I experienced a new form of the EI/OE/ICA taking shape. ToP Trainer's Network folks, have for many years, been among my closest ICA colleagues and friends in a new form of community even though I am an inactive member of the network. Super interview, Seva and Dylan re "Accelerate 77." And well-said remarks, Terry re "New ICA." The interview was terrific. Program sounds like Blessed Unrest Chicago ICA style. Want to hear more about the event. Dave Rebstock On Fri, Sep 28, 2012 at 11:47 AM, John Cock <jpc2025@triad.rr.com> wrote:

Dear Terry, It was a delight to look at the youtube presentation, and see what " Accelerate 77" is all about. As one who worked in the Uptown Guild in the mid '70's, I found it very heartening. I enjoyed ' meeting' Seva and Dylan, and the two hosts, and wish the work many blessings, and good times ahead. Thanks for posting the note. In peace, Isobel BIshop.
