Since I wasn't able to attend the memorial service myself, I asked good friends from the Philippines who now live in the Woodlands if they would attend on my behalf. They did. And I've just talked with them on the phone. They said the service was beautiful. Attached is a scan of the program. Dear Susan, Thanks very much for sending this Order of Service. Both Ellery and Tony were wonderful colleagues to Jim and me. They are deeply embedded in our Meditative Council. We appreciate the care and communication in keeping us posted, down here in Australia. We hope that one of your TV outlets buys First Footprints- and amazing Documentary about the Aboriginal people and their life here in Australia some 40- 50,000 years ago. It is a 4 session Doco, and the last session we see on Sunday coming. So I suppose it won' t be available over in the US for a while….. Grace is yours and peace, Isobel Bishop. I'll watch for it, Isobel! I might be able to call the cable company and ask about it... You know, when we escaped from the Philippines by submarine toward the end of WWII (I was 3 months old), we landed in Darwin and then went to Brisbane where my mom and I were in a military hospital for almost a year while my dad went back for the retaking of Manila. (then after the war, we returned to the Philippines and I grew up there). Also my younger sister lived in Australia for several years when her husband worked for Monsanto and was assigned there. And I remember Grace Umbulgai (sp?) coming to Houston when I was working with the Religious House there, and I so enjoyed meeting her. I love books and movies about Australia, from The Sundowners of yore to the more recent Thornbirds, to the most recent Australia. And I've seen a few documentaries and docudramas that have gone into the Aboriginal history.
