You may know that she was taken to the emergency room March 26th with a bad leg infection. A half dozen people became part of her Care Bears team, staying with her each day. Overtime she fought difficulty swallowing, heart fibrillation, high white blood count, low oxygen rate, low blood pressure and pneumonia. She was taken back to the ICU early this morning (April 8) and passed away at 10:30 AM. I know you share with all Jean's colleagues our sadness today and our gratitude for her life. With profound sadness I share this message with you on the Archives Team of the death of Jean Long.
You may know that she was taken to the emergency room March 26th with a bad leg infection. A half dozen people became part of her Care Bears team, staying with her each day. Overtime she fought difficulty swallowing, heart fibrillation, high white blood count, low oxygen rate, low blood pressure and pneumonia. She was taken back to the ICU early this morning (April 8) and passed away at 10:30 AM.
I know you share with all Jean's colleagues our sadness today and our gratitude for her life.

I too am saddened at Jean's passing. My direct contact with her dates back to the early 70’s on the West Side but I still remember her well. We recently had an extended phone conversation during which time she updated me on the Archives Project and we updated each other on our lives. I celebrate the courageous compassionate life of Jean Long. In October at the archive sojourn I found myself on Jean's interior Life collection team. I hadn't seen her for a long time. She was not well much of the time but when present she was pure passion. Since then she has edited the other world work in collection. With profound sadness I share this message with you on the Archives Team of the death of Jean Long.
You may know that she was taken to the emergency room March 26th with a bad leg infection. A half dozen people became part of her Care Bears team, staying with her each day. Overtime she fought difficulty swallowing, heart fibrillation, high white blood count, low oxygen rate, low blood pressure and pneumonia. She was taken back to the ICU early this morning (April 8) and passed away at 10:30 AM.
I know you share with all Jean's colleagues our sadness today and our gratitude for her life.
Information on the celebration of her life will be sent to you soon.

Jean lived a few doors away from me during my time at Kemper in the 1980s. The last time we met was at the Denver Order gathering decades ago. I remember her cheerful presence and passionate involvement in our discussions. Along with the rest of you, I say farewell to someone who made the life and efforts of this community meaningful. I am moved and saddened to hear of Jean's death. I remember her writing something on this listserve a while back, in which she said it was very important to her to be "actually poor" as she lived out the remainder of her life. This stood in contrast to my own choice to keep at least part of my focus on generating income to sustain life at least comfortably, and to not be poor. When I think of Jean, I think of those words she wrote. She took the time to really notice and saw me struggle to cope in a new time zone, new environment, new culture. She made me feel at home. Acts of kindness that made a world of difference. She took the time to really notice and saw me struggle to cope in a new time zone, new environment, new culture. She made me feel at home. Acts of kindness that made a world of difference. With profound sadness I share this message with you on the Archives Team of the death of Jean Long.
You may know that she was taken to the emergency room March 26th with a bad leg infection. A half dozen people became part of her Care Bears team, staying with her each day. Overtime she fought difficulty swallowing, heart fibrillation, high white blood count, low oxygen rate, low blood pressure and pneumonia. She was taken back to the ICU early this morning (April 8) and passed away at 10:30 AM.
I know you share with all Jean's colleagues our sadness today and our gratitude for her life.
