Celebration of the Life of Bob Booher
Colleagues, Sarah Booher has asked me to post an invitation to a party remembering Bob, Sept. 29, 2024 It will be a gathering at their apartment in Rochester. The event will not be on Zoom, but she invites participation through e-mails, and cards. “Please bring any stories, writings, artwork, pictures, poems, readings, songs, remembrances of Bob, prayers, jokes or funny stories, etc. Whatever you’d like to share. Bob’s dear Friend Rev. Stephanie will act as MC to gather us, keep us on track, perhaps share her own stories, and offer a final blessing. A light buffet will be served around 4 pm.” If you are able to physically attend, please RSVP by Sept. 23rd (585-455-4452) or send your greetings and messages: Sarah Booher gefbooher@stny.rr.com<mailto:gefbooher@stny.rr.com> 1471 Long Pond Rd, Apt 303E Rochester, NY 14626 Sarah’s health is compromised, but she would enjoy brief phone calls from colleagues, perhaps after the event. She also enjoys e-mails which she can read at her own pace. We are grateful for our shared journeys with Bob and Sarah over the years. As I write this I am reminded of Bob’s sense of humor and his love of singing. I imagine there will be some good singing at this remembrance party. We join with Cindy, Joanna, Robert and John and their families, and with Sarah as they celebrate together. Lynda Cock Davidson, NC 336-404-0770

Sarah, I love that you are having a party. Jim and I attended a funeral last week, and reflected later that when it comes time to celebrate our lives, we want to have a party. I can see Robert smiling in affirmation of this event. Although Jim and I won’t be present for the party, we will be thinking about you and all those gathered. I searched the Global Archives for remembrances and discovered this talk Robert gave in 1977 that describes a bit of his wisdom and experience with Town Meeting and simply being human: "Profound Humanness as Action": https://wedgeblade.net/files/archives_assets/4138.pdf. Today I appreciate his words, “In sighing you touch heavenly sorrow.” For me he always exhibited the "effortless style" that he describes here as he lived a life of Profound Happiness. Here are other memories people had of Robert on his Global Archives Memorial page: https://icaglobalarchives.org/robert-booher/. Have a wonderful memory party!! And take good care of yourself and family. Peace and love, Karen PS. Sarah, I also rediscovered the reflections you wrote in 2020 remembering the first Global Odyssey: https://wedgeblade.net/files/archives_assets/21974.pdf.
