Many folks are responding on the link to the celebration of Michaela's life which the family has shared with so many friends and family. Vida, Mark and Catherine - and community - I would like to share this story about the first time I was cared for by the devious duo. I moved to the Denver House from 4 years in Brussels in 1988. I moved into the "Epleys old room" which is how we designated rooms back then. It was on the third floor of a beautiful Denver mansion just off City Park. The third floor had been the ballroom in the house. A day or two after I arrived I was talking with these bright, inquisitive girls, Vida and Michaela Welch (arround 9 and 11 or so). I had been out of the country for 4 years and knew nothing of current music or videos. They said they had gotten a video of "Jumping Jack Flash" with Whoopi Goldberg (who?) and did I want to watch it with them that night? My first experience of Whoopi!! We laughed until we almost threw up. It is still in my top 10. From that night on, Vida and Michaela and Mark and Catherine sort of adopted this single lady and for every eventfulness that could be created I was invited to share it with them. Welches - thank you for sharing an experience of family that changed my life. I am forever grateful, Jean On Wed, Feb 6, 2019 at 2:03 PM Lynda C via OE <oe@lists.wedgeblade.net> wrote:

Jean, I recently drove by the Denver House to see how it was holding up. It looks as good today as it did in 1973 when I lived there. What is interesting is that there is a sign out front that says Judi's House -For Grieving Children and Families.
