What do you think? Did Sophie Matisse (Matisse's daughter) get the colors right. This full size (8.5ft x 20ft) Guernica hangs in the Flint MI Art Gallery. Len
I see more color in the black and white print than in this. I've seen the actual Guernica in Madrid. It has its own museum and takes up the whole wall. Sophie Matisse did NOT get it right, in my opinion. My imagination was much more lurid. Hello Colleagues, I tend to agree with Susan. At least, the parts that are painted blue would be far more 'real' if they were black- in my view. Thanks Len for sharing this with us..... In peace, Isobel BIshop. On 18/09/2012, at 11:03 AM, Susan Fertig wrote:

An interesting perspective. However, I also agree - the starkness of the original black and white drives home the horror far more than the one below with is so "gaily" colored. Another perspective (I don't know where it is right now on the web) was done by an art student as a 3D hologram. You can almost "walk" around the objects. I think it was shared here a few years ago. Anyway, my 2 cents - not worth what it used to be, eh? Picasso's original left much more to the "eye of the beholder." The RS-1 conversation would not have revealed the depth of insight it did had the painting been colored as Matisse has done. Just another perspective to behold. Thought that was the whole point of the conversation, a tool for awareness rather than an art critique? j'aime la vie -----Original Message----- From: R Williams <rcwmbw@yahoo.com> To: Colleague Dialogue <dialogue@lists.wedgeblade.net>; Order Ecumenical Community <oe@wedgeblade.net> Sent: Tue, Sep 18, 2012 6:13 pm Subject: Re: [Oe List ...] [Dialogue] Where would you put color?
