I guess the thing I loved most about Charles (my first ecclesiola prior--along with Doris, of course) The thing I love most about Charles was the marvellous way he let uncertainty show on his face -- I could see he was struggling, I could see he was taking it seriously-- I could see this was significant for him. And, of course his voice and how so many of us would depend on and trust his decisions and his wisdom. A care full man. And with all the riskiness and uncertainty of what we did "back in the day" always pioneering stuff . . . and always sensible and responsible -- and full of care for the Church and our body and their family and daughters as well. Isn't there some song we could all sing? What were Charles's favorite songs and hymns?? Dear Ones, I do not know Charles' favorite songs. The one i began singing immediately upon reading Jim's question of a song, it was this. THE COST OF MY CARE - (tune: Anniversary waltz by Dave Franklin and lyrics by Al Dubin) Given the chance to do life in the deeps, to serve humankind is the gift that I be. To care for the world is the burden I bear, invent with my life,'tis the cost of my care. Chorus: Strange awful power is dancing through me, buoyantly forging impossible be, With all my all heart I'm poured out endlessly, I'm burdened eternally. Wholly engulfed in unbounded rapport, doomed for the world, my life wholly outpoured. Always encumbered, tomorrow is here, molding my future the cost of my care. Chorus Burning with wisdom, empowered to do, the weight of the world for all folks everywhere. Guardian of all, to all history an heir, absurdly in charge, 'tis the cost of my care. Chorus. (Repeat firs verse without the chorus) With love for all who have been on the MARCH .... 💟 I canhear us singing as we walk together .... Thank you, Jim. I can tell you that he asked for these hymns to be sung at his funeral: O, For A Thousand Tongues (Charles Wesley)How Firm A FoundationA Bulwark Never Failing Not knowing when that service will be, feel free to sing now.
