Prof Timothy Snyder's lectures on Ukraine are available on YouTube
Hi everyone. I suspect that many of you already know of the Yale professor of history, Timothy Snyder and his lectures about “The Making of Modern Ukraine" on YouTube. A month or so ago, Burna and I stumbled onto one of his 50-minute lectures. We’ve been closely following this series and other presentations he’s been making over the past five+ years. We've been surprised and thrilled. He is a great lecturer, has vast knowledge as a historian with especially close ties to Ukraine, Poland and other countries in Europe and deep historical familiarity with the relationship between Ukraine and Russia. He’s multilingual and has been in touch with President Zelensky recently. Long before the beginning of the war Russia precipitated last February, Snyder had been relentlessly working to expand the context of European history and this conflict in particular. Just search for Timothy Snyder and you’ll see the multiple talks he’s given. For a fine intro, I'd recommend the keynote talk at the Davos 2022 conference last May. It's a very fine talk and a good taste of Prof. Snyder's speaking style and message, A screen shot and the URL for the YouTube video are below. It love to hear who else is following him or has listened to one or more of his talks.
