Celebrating the Completed Life of Patricia Vice (formerly Coker).
Colleagues, We have recently learned from Rev. Bill Reece of Wichita of the passing of Patricia Vice in January. Pat (and her husband at that time: Francis Coker) served time with us in the Washington, DC House and then in the regional house in Richmond, VA. They also were assigned to Chicago where their first daughter Megan was born. They then served in Sudtonggan Human Development Project in the Philippines. They later added two other children to their family. Pat’s children and teaching for many years in a bilingual English-Spanish kindergarten in CA were among her special gifts. She loved helping these little ones get off to a good start. Pat grew up in the Pine Valley Christian Church in Wichita, KS which was connected to the Local Church Experiment. At that time PVCC was under the innovative leadership of Bill and Ginny Reese. Read article about that church on the ICAglobalarchive.com. Her parents the late Erma and Chet Vice were active cadre members. The four Vice sisters were a delightful and lively addition to that congregation. Either Sheri or Sandi attended Academy. They all must have had RS-I, since that was a requirement for Pine Valley membership. Pat is survived by her loving sisters: Sheri Vice Scherer in Yorktown Heights, NY, Darlene Vice Higgins in Birmingham, AL, and Sandi Vice Murray in KS.. Pat is also survived by three children, Megan Erickson, Aiden Seraphim, and Denise Coker and a beloved grandson Miles who brought light and life to her compromised body A memorial gathering will be held in the summer. A photo of Pat will be posted soon on the Memorial page of the Archives website. Lynda and John Cock

Thank you for sharing this news with us. Our sympathy goes out to Patricia’s family and those who loved her. In 1973 Patricia and Francis were the first priors of the inaugural year of the Richmond House, a beautiful old southern mansion on Monument Avenue. That was a lively bunch that helpful us bring into the world our second son, Peter. What a delightful smile and positive outlook she had. Thanks for sharing the details of her life. Peace and love.
