Betty Hill has asked me to inform everyone that Shel is in failing health and that his condition is declining rapidly. Her report about Shel being "okay with where he is," serves as a reminder to us all that acknowledging and affirming our real situation is at the heart of faith and well being. It is obvious Shel remains a spirit man and thereby lends courage to us all. Dear Betty and Sheldon, Thank you for the message about Sheldon's health condition - what an image to the "a remnant" of such a wonderful group of folks as the "Northshore Cadre"! Remnants are the symbol of something much larger and certainly those folks of the Northshore Cadre were/are larger than life. The first time Fred and I visited the Litibu community in Mexico in the mid 90's, Fred had been invited to come to design the landscape including pathways for the community. I think that was the last time I encountered Sheldon ..... he was busy working on the architecture of the homes. I so vividly recall seeing you ,Sheldon, with your bald head, large frame and very busy intent on your task. I have visited Litibu many times since those days long ago, it is still a place of beauty, a place that has your foot steps, handywork and design all around. Thank you Sheldon! My alter candle is lit, both of you will be on my mind and in my heart in the days ahead. With love, Nancy On Sun, Jun 10, 2012 at 7:13 AM, Terry Bergdall <bergdall2@gmail.com> wrote:

Dear Betty and Shel, We heartily second what Nancy said! Every day we get the joy of living in the home Shel designed for us. Everyone who sees it comments on the magnificent design and marvels at what he created. We are so grateful for what Shel did for our community. Please tell him we are with him on his journey, that we celebrate that he was one of the great North Shore Cadre that was a pillar in our life and was such a sign of being the Order. Thank you, thank you, thank you dear friend and colleague. Grace & Peace, Jack & Judy On Jun 10, 2012, at 9:26 AM, Nancy Lanphear wrote:

Thank you Terry for posting this. I wanted to lift up Sheldon's in exhsuatible energy when it came to solving design problems. I got to know him best around the "post '84 Council" when it was decided to rent out the Kemper Building to other not-for-profits. He would always find time after his paying work to put his thinking towards making the re-hab a better quality building than before. Often I did not know the work load he had when I would add a question for him that I hope he would anwser, and he would meet a dealine again. I send healing energy and prayers to Sheldon and Betty.
