Jean Long needs our prayers and care
Our Archives Anchor, Jean Long, at 4750 N. Sheridan is having a tough time. See notes below. Cards and notes of appreciation would be helpful boosts to her struggling body. Send to 4750 N. Sheridan, Chicago, IL 60640. The note below is from Paula. With her permission, I’m sharing this with our community. Jean will be greatly missed at the sojourn. Hopefully, she’ll be able to see some of us who are attending. Lynda for the Archive Team Paula wrote: Jean fell a week ago Wednesday. By Tuesday of last week, she was not tracking and her right lower leg was very infected and swollen. Neighbor, Ed Felmanis called on her to find out how she was doing and then called 911. So since Tuesday she has been in the hospital. Pneomonia and a hard time breathing. This afternoon while Rosemary was with her they moved Jean to ICU. Sunday night they sedated her and with something like a cpap that helps her breathe. They ordered a full new set of tests today in ICU and will know more Monday morning but they could not specifically say what was the cause. Her brother Jerry and sister-in law Wanda are there now. Karen Troxel, Rosemary Albright, Ed Feldmanis, Pam Bergdall & I have been staying with her at the hospital during the day. Friday, we were researching short term rehab places to take her so she could have skilled nursing care while she gets back moving again. She is headed back to her regular room now in 624 at Weiss Hospital. We shall see. Put her on the prayer lists! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF7yFOlOk9M Paula
Thank you for sending this Linda. She will be held in my prayers. Jean

It is wonderful to hear that Jean is improving and resting comfortably. Paul and I had a short conversation with her yesterday afternoon. She sounded much better. On Monday I called Jean and she was in the midst of something and could not talk. The person on the phone excitedly told me Jean had someone with her all the time and she had not seen anyone with so many friends who are caring about her. She said it was unusual for people to be so attentive to a patient. Many thanks to Paula, Rosemary, Karen and Mary Laura, the regulars spending time with Jean. Dear colleagues, Thank you from Isobel and Jim, here in Australia. Jean kindly took care of our Memoirs when we sent them to 4750 in February. We are so glad to hear of her improvement. How wonderful to hear of her round-the- clock care. Very beautiful, and not surprising when I reflect on what it means to care for our dear colleagues. Thank you. In peace and love, Isobel Bishop Sent from my iPhone

Joe and I send love and prayers from Maine to our dear friend, Jean Long. How I loved to sing with her in small groups back in the 70s. She is such a strong woman of faith and creativity. May she heal quickly and know throughout her recovery that colleagues from around the world hold her in their hearts and prayers. Grace, peace and love, Marilyn & Joe Crocker

Thank you. In peace and love, Isobel Bishop

Jean fell a week ago Wednesday.
