Dear Katherine,

The witness of Minneapolis is now being discussed on Canadian social media as a guide to our future behaviour.

The Canadian Government has publicly ordered our Military to make preparations to defend ourselves against a US invasion. 50% of our population thinks this is a real possibility in the coming year.

While I see many signs of a new world order balancing American fascism and aggression, this is where we are at.

I would like you to post the message below on the ICA/Order website /listserve today asking people to call/emal congress about the ICE budget. We are beside ourselves for the reasons below - and the aftermath of the loss of two precious lives. Everything helps!!

Hello dear members of the ICA community,


Although I haven't been on this site. I have followed the lives of many of you, My time and relationships remain precious.I ask you to remember the vision of the ICA of creating a community of equity and sharing as you read the following and hopefully take immediate action. 


I live in St Paul, MN next door to Minneapolis and part of Operation Metro Surge. You have heard about it and I cannot fully convey the level of fear, anger and grief that controls the city after two deaths and the constant threats of taking people away without documentation, many of whom are citizens. 

Those who care in our city is spending all of or time taking people to school, buying groceries , fighting wrongful lawsuits and patrolling the streets. It has to stop. Our hope: The budget bill now being discussed could stop ICE's aggressive and violent tactics if were drastically reduced.


My ask: Please call/email/write your Congress people TODAY and ALSO these Republicans below who have demonstrated they are interested in a change. Text is below for you to use.

SCRIPT:

I am a  concerned citizen of ___________. I am watching and hearing with alarm personal accounts from people living through Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota. I am a registered________.

We want you to stop funding for ICE and their aggressive actions in the upcoming budget vote. This means separating out Dept of Homeland Security funds from the broader budget bill and eliminating their violent, aggressive and unlawful behavior. We are asking this because:

-              There are 3000 agents in our community, 25 times more agents than the Chicago press.

 

-              Statements made by Kristi Noem of Homeland Security and Greg Bovino of Border Patrol are blatantly false as they tell viewers to deny what they are seeing in video.

 

-              Sixty per cent of those being detained are people of color (even police officers) and are being held in horrendous conditions, detaining them from a few hours to a few days and releasing them without identification, phones or coats in weather often below zero.

 

-              Fourth amendment rights are being disregarded as agents are instructed to  enter homes and cars – often violently - and take people off the street without warrants or due cause.

 

-              In the Pretti killing on Saturday, federal agents refused to honor  the warrant from the  MN Dept of Public Safety, forcing the  filing of a  a lawsuit so they wouldn’t destroy evidence. Impartial review of murder is an ordinary, expected process.

 

-              Mpls school attendance is at 50% because children are afraid to go to school.
 
This blatant disregard for rights must stop or we will see this kind of military action all over. Thank you for your help and attention in this matter.
