I met Roxana in Singapore. We were living in Bontoa, Indonesia, and had to go get our visa renewed. I liked her then but liked her more as the years rolled on and we met again after they moved to Seattle and we moved to Eugene OR. When they came for a visit, it wasn't to be an ordinary sit around visit. Roxana wanted to do something new, exciting. adventuresome. So we zoomed up and down the dunes at the coast in a dune buggy, went flying down the McKenzie River in a little raft, drove up the mountains to see the beautiful Multnomah Falls and so on. And our visits to Seattle she made sure were just as exciting. She was special in my life. Will be so missed.

After a severe case of shingles and diminishing physical and emotional reserves, Roxana Harper passed away in her sleep this morning as she wished: in her own bed, with her family surrounding her. When we asked her last night what she thought the afterlife would be like she answered, “Marvelous.”

Go with God, Mom, and be at peace. Know that you are loved.
