Those interested in the formation of myth-making in a changing,
pluralistic, globalizing culture and the inter-related dynamics of emerging
religious Modes/social Vehicles might consult the 1st chapter of Burton Mack’s
book, “Who Wrote The New Testament.” The chapter is entitled “Clashing
Cultures” and it is a great description of the collapse of the Greek
polis/cosmos culture and the middle eastern Temple/King cultures as they
collided in the aftermath of Alexander the Great’s military adventures and the
subsequent emergence of the Christian Myth.
