I do manage the website for the church where I am on staff as communications director, but Search Engine Optimization (SEO in the vernacular) was not, until recently, anything I really knew about. We lost our web address as part of the court order by which we also lost our physical property and most of our funds. So we needed to work quickly to make it easier to find us in a google or other browser search. You can get started with google ads—they will usually give you the first $100 free and a representative will walk you through what to do. Then when that is used up you can take a look at the analytics and decide if you want to put more money into it or not. I plunked in another $200 and when that was gone I let it lapse, because we had already moved up the chain in searches and I didn’t think we needed to do more right then. We might want to do it again 6 months down the road. Don’t know if we’ll feel it necessary.
Some other things I was advised to do by a member of the congregation who does this for a living and generously gave us some of his time probono:
1. Get a link to your website on other organizations’ websites (sometimes accomplished through an exchange—you put a link to theirs on yours)
2. Find directories (web) that will provide a link to your website because you represent a resource their consituents would want to know about
3. Keywords, keywords, keywords. Make sure every page has got keywords entered in the content management of the website.
4. Carefully plan the titles you give to each page so that it supports/responds to browser searches
I’ll go back and try to find some of the emails I exchanged with the guy who was advising us and see what would be applicable to ICA, ToP, etc.
I’ll bet there are folks in the ToP practicioners community who know a lot about SEO and can help think through what ICA needs to do to generate more visibility, develop a higher profile in its industry.

Probably need to do some Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on the ICA and ToP website(s).

Eunice and I use the triangles (social and corporate) mostly in context setting to remind people of the big picture, often along with environmental scanning exercises prior to planning sessions, sometime just as the framework for a conversation.
These triangles are one of the greatest research efforts of OE/EI/ICA and thank God the Jenkins wrote their book, that Clancy and Epps are also published and using them regularly. Sadly still one of the best kept secrets of our modest-to-a-fault culture. ToP as a whole is much more widely known, but we are nearly unknown by many people who know about “Open Space”, the Dialogue Method, World Café, and many other that are in the literature and which pop up quickly in a facilitation search. SO… who among us has the talent and the passion to raise the public profile of Triangles and ToP?! I’ve only done a little in this regard, usually just running off to another program rather than reflecting and sharing insights from the last one. So There. Confession. (what comes after that?)
