We walked 2 miles from there to New Buffalo, an interfaith residence/community. There were people who were giving foot massages. They handed out a sheet of paper that described the Reflexology points on the bottom of the foot, and I got a massage. I realized that the early Aboriginals got their massage every day all day long because they wore no shoes.
We gathered in what appeared to be the sanctuary of their building. A woman gave us, one by one, a Native American welcome/blessing with some incense and the wing of an eagle. As we received the blessing we were directed outside to the potluck meal we had with the community.
Back at our campsite our NM Route coordinator gave a presentation on Non-Violent Communication. It made me wonder how we present the kind of front needed to remove the government subsidies from the fossil fuel industry and agri-business so we can rely on renewable energy and restore family farming.
