Carter Phipps, the author of the article Herman sent the link to, has a new
book out: Evolutionaries: Unlocking the Spiritual and Cultural
Potential of Science's Greatest Idea. I'm enjoying it.
Remember the video we distributed in 1986 (I think), called The Global
Brain? It stated that physical and biological evolution has developed
by great leaps at certain times. The predicted 12/21/2012 shift,
partly based on the Mayan calendar, is the end of a
24,000-year cycle. If it's indeed to be a spiritual and
cultural evolutionary jump, it's not going to be like anything recorded in human
history.
I so appreciate Ken Wilbur, Andrew Cohen, Craig Hamilton and Carter
Phipps for their wonderful work on behalf of society. They understandably want
to distance themselves from New Age thought. I feel I"m benefiting
from the time I spend each week in the "Living on the Edge of
Evolution" on-line class with C.H.
Great teachings, great pedagogy.
Nevertheless, I plan to go with my local spiritual group to the
mountains for a retreat on the winter solstice. A big jump in spiritual/cultural
evolution surely can't hurt.
