Well, one example — the Eucharist is the ritualized remembering of the encounter with (Jesus or Christ, depending I think). Most people I know who feel they’ve had a direct Christ experience have not and do jot have that experience during the Eucharist. It’s like the difference between your experience of your vacation and later in sharing your photos.
