Dear colleagues,

What do we pray over? Is it the US elections, the leading candidates and how Americans will vote? Praying for this would be like asking for supernatural help for scoring a goal. The issue to pray over is one that troubles not just the US but many of the countries that we come from - the dearth of leaders who desire good for the world and have the discipline and skills to inspire and move their people. Genocide Joe and Trump with his tantrums are not on that list. And it's hard to see societies where the young are being groomed to fill this vacuum. In the midst of all this, we human beings have put the earth on a course where 2024 will end up being the hottest year in history. Superpowers are more interested in either staying as No 1 or becoming the next No 1 than in dealing with what's coming at us. This is where we have to get down on our knees.

Yes by all means pray to tamp down the incendiary and vitriolic discourse, and all the same pray for a chance that the Republic (not “ans”) be preserved. I still think the main originator of the latest such discourse be removed “far away from us” as I was thinking of the question the villagers in Fiddler on the Roof asked the Rabbi: “Is there a blessing for the Tzar?” After much thought the Reb prayed:; “May God bless and keep the Tzar . . . . . . .far away from us.” Certain parts of our body politic still need to be removed, but not by assassination, rather by the ballot box and the duly appointed court system of our beloved Republic. A former Attorney of the Department of Justice is talking  about hard it was to ensure the Law was carried out, under the former President’s administration.
What is the most effective wording for my Prayers for your country at this time ?
If someone takes up my question, I will pray and fast at certain times.
