Indigenous Peoples Day Greetings from Oberlin, OH where we now live.

Below are:

-a link to Oberlin's Proclamation on Indigenous Peoples Day; and

-a link to a short video re the Wampanoag 400 year history:  "We Are Still Here."

Oberlin celebrated with an Indigenous Peoples Day event Saturday in the community center:  dancing, artisan tables, info tables for Indigenous groups in the area, children's activities, food, etc.

Today was a vigil on Tappan Square, in the middle of town, where folks of all ages gathered to listen to the Proclamation, and be present to the history, culture, gifts, and challenges of, and the learnings from the Indigenous Peoples of this nation and globally.

At our senior community, the celebration also has included a presentation on colonization, a special bulletin board and library display focused on Indigenous Peoples, individual displays outside apartments and cottages, a newsletter blog, and a Three Sisters Stew Dinner tonight--all coordinated by the newly formed Indigenous Peoples Interest Group.

As a poster that we brought to the vigil says . . .

DEFEND THE SACRED!

May we learn from All Our Relatives--animal, vegetable, and mineral . . . before it is too late . . .
Ellie :)
