Wayne Nelson died this afternoon at 2:45pm. He was in his basement workshop, a place where he loved to be. He was always creating something there. We think he had a heart attack and died very quickly. Arrangements for his service will be made in the next few days and we will send the information out. Jo's boys and daughter-in-law are with her and we are supporting them in this journey. Duncan Holmes Sent from my iPhone
So sad to hear this news. We keep Jo and family and our colleagues in Canada in our prayers in this time of absorbing the shock of his sudden death. We give thanks for his life and leadership in so many ways. Thank you Duncan, that is a great shock and very sad to hear. I am glad to know that Jo and the family are together. My thoughts are with them, and with you and all of Wayne's colleagues at ICA in Canada as well. For Wayne, a few sentences from an old friend. Sentences that have been going round and round in my consciousness since I heard of his death. We come from a dark abyss, we end in a dark abyss, and we call the luminous interval life. As soon as we are born the return begins, at once the setting forth and the coming back; we die in every moment. Because of this many have cried out: The goal of life is death! But as soon as we are born we begin the struggle to create, to compose, to turn matter into life; we are born in every moment. Because of this many have cried out: The goal of ephemeral life is immortality! In the temporary living organism these two streams collide: (a) the ascent toward composition, toward life, toward immortality; (b) the descent toward decomposition, toward matter, toward death. . . . And, later Which of the two eternal roads shall I choose? . . . Of the two, I choose the ascending path. Why? . . . I choose the ascending path because my heart drives me toward it. Seems, every time I encountered Wayne, in person, over the phone, via email, I met a man who chose the ascending path. So sorry to hear of Wayne's sudden death. What a blessing for him to go suddenly doing something he loved to be doing. So difficult for the family to have no saying good bye time. My prayers and thoughts are with Jo and the family...and all his friends and colleagues. He was a wise person...and one I always listened to when he said or wrote something.
