What can anyone tell us about the Local Church Project congregations in Denver? With the help of John and Louise Singleton, we have identified/named the four congregations. However, any stories or background information about Evanston United Methodist Church specifically (it may have been EUB then) served by George and Ruthe Yost would be very much appreciated. The Evanston congregation recently merged with ours, (University Park UMC) and the culture of the small but mighty cluster of parishoners from Evanston is distinct. For example, the Koinadugu district in Sierra Leone, a current project, has been constantly and is still maintained by of one of the Evanston families; it has had only one identified case of Ebola as of yesterday, due to the health and education programs that are going strong there. So, we are also generally wondering about tracking lasting effects of LCP or its residue. Is anyone out there working on that?
Good question. I recall the Presbyterian? church that was part of the Galaxy, I think it was east of the old religious house, don't recall the name . . . Not sure how we got into this topic but it brings back many memories. The Denver Galaxy was a little odd. Evanston United Methodist with the Yosts; Montview Presbyterian, with Bill Hudson and Clarence Amons pastors. Bill had been a Methodist pastor and Order colleague in Boston and died while at Montview. I remember singing Lord of the Dance at his death celebration. The Singletons, Elliots, an oncologist and his famillyJan Dodds and myself were members, and Tim and Kay Lush in the House; a church in Boulder with Vallery and Wally Ford; and a church in Salt Lake City with a young couple - Jim and Kitty ??Little, he was a pediatrician and they had twin boys who were killed in an accident of some kind.
