This is sad news. Chen I-An gave Chris, Doug, and me our Chinese names before we left for the Kaohsiung House. He also advised and helped with site selection for the Hai Ou Project. He did yeoman work translating during the consult and (I think) holding the hands of the young students we pressed into service to translate small groups and to help launch the project. I don't think we'd have had a document in Chinese were it not for him.
We tried to look him up when we were in Taiwan and Malaysia last spring, but did not manage it. That's a regret.
We depend on so many for so much in our lives.

My first remembrance of Chen I-An was when he and his family were part of the Singapore House and possibly Centrum in the early to mid 80's. After returning to Taiwan to become a management consultant and teacher, he retained his ICA connection in a guardian role for a few years.

I only met him once since we moved here in 1990, that was by chance on the street. In encountering a few of his students over the years they always remark on the similarity of his spirit and that of ICA.

He died a few weeks ago and a friend sent me his facebook connection on which I found a great picture of him (white shirt, right) - which included the ICA global grid on his wall.
