Don’t know that this is what you mean by “local” police, but Paul Schrijnen, Lucy Smith and I were accosted by the Carabinieri, the national police of Italy, while doing a town meeting in a church in southern Italy. Neighbors had seen us go into the church, thought we looked suspicious (probably because of our blue, order garb), and reported to the police that we were the Brigate Rosse (Red Brigade), an Italian terrorist group that had kidnapped and assassinated Prime Minister Aldo Moro. We were fortunately, after some fast talk (as I remember, Paul spoke Italian), able to convince them that we were not terrorists, and they let us go. I may have a few of the details wrong, but the gist of the story is true and relatively accurate.

OMG. Just the Odyssey stories by themselves would be amazing! It’d be interesting to know just how many of us had visits from the local police. Funny in those days; not so funny in our current environment.
Thank you Debra, for your comment..."

I'm laughing because your words echo exactly what went through my mind a couple of days ago. I've been in a writing group for a long time and every once in a while I've written about experiences with this community. I'll have to dig them out. One story is about scrubbing our grave plots in the Minneapolis House garage, during an Odyssey, and having the police arrive. Someone in the apartment next door was looking out her window as a group from the house walked up the driveway and filed into the garage in white robes. She thought it was a Klu Klux Klan meeting. I'd love to be on the "Story Collection Team".

These photos are also a gold mine for the Archives. (A picture says a thousands words- and as some capture a significant time in history, or at least our history!). I hope we kept notes on our running commentary, yet if not, at least it's searchable through our collective emails.

Frank, thank you for this monumental task!
