I am glad you caught this. I had previously read of Murthy’s prescription, and noted it, but then did nothing with it. You shared it with our community and “That made all the difference.” Thank you.
In addition to his community solution Murthy "identified three core pillars that help people build community: relationships, service, and purpose.'
He also offered his perspective on the root causes of widespread pain and unhappiness he has too across America. This is a paraphrase of some of what he offered.
- people feel alone and isolated, they didn’t have anyone to rely on,
- the relationships we create require daily effort and depend on individual action.
- the courage to be vulnerable and real with each other
- participating in service work, reminds people of the value they bring to the world.
- having an overarching life aim that guides and prioritizes our decisions and actions
How unfortunate that he is leaving office. We could use more of him.
