To the Robertson Family:
It is very unusual to have a family asking this and so I decided to put my two cents in.
I am not sure we remember each other- but this is ok. I just want to share my type of
senior space. I am alone now, but have many neighbors, daughter and sister who live
in the same area and love where I have been for 20 years now.
It is a cooperative - so limited in many ways, but one where I can call on for help if I
need repairs as we have a corp of maintenance guys who keep us happy. Also a
a management office that serves us in many ways. I can Iiterally walk across the street
and pay my monthly charges. But I dont - I use ACH as everyone else does.
This property has quite a history- first city to integrate in the Chicago area and even
has a display in the Smithsonian Inst of American History.
You can find The Cedarwood Coop-Pk Forest on line and view a bit of the place.
Its a very reasonable place to dwell. Just so you know. p.s. they have a lot of
cooperatives in the US- all types and costs. We are just one option among many.
Adding- we here are in the throes of trying to change history by changing certain
Bi Laws and having a too independant Bd of Directors. But we believe that the concept
of co-operatives is changing to more management driven organizations and are fighting
this. The problem is and seems to be a common one that people ignore things around
them and beyond-until the last minute. We have 5 in Park Forest- ours being the largest
and least expensive.
Well this is enough for one to take in and probably no where close to what you may think.
Just want to brag about the choice. - Vera Ariel Barber 2025

Subject: [Dialogue] Aging options
To: dialogue@lists.wedgeblade.net; oe@lists.wedgeblade.net;
Dear colleagues,
How are you aging? Bonnie and I are considering options of aging in place where we are, or downsizing and then aging in place, or moving into a senior community. What have you done? How do you find it? Any lessons or advice to give? What are you planning to
do?
Best wishes,
Rob
